The totals continue to climb with people contributing in droves to High River's "Heaven Can Wait" Animal Shelter.

Just over a day after putting out the call for donations, Owner Kim Hessel has seen a surge in funding that will pay off her debts and help keep her afloat for the next several months at least.

She says she's still in shock over the response.

"I almost don't know how to absorb it. It's that big. That's what it feels like, it does truly make you emotional. That's incredible support that I honestly did not think would come in like this."

Besides her "Go Fund Me" page, an online silent auction has been set up for next week to draw in more cash to help out.
