High River is growing and attracting new business.

High River Business License Renewal Officer Angela Groeneveld says we have a lot to be proud of in terms of businesses in town post flood.

"We stayed within about a 5% increase and that is huge. Federal Emergency Management were predicting us as a town to be ready for a 30% decline in businesses in year two. We didn't see that, we stayed our own."

She says now more than ever is the time to diversify if any business is to be successful.

"As of January 2015 I have five new businesses and two big commercial developments that are looking to come in." She says.

Groeneveld says the businesses that want to come here are a really nice mix but can't give specifics until everything is approved.

"I can't say what industries they are. We're going to see a tourist one and we're going to see some service businesses coming and more businesses in light industrial. I've got some tire kickers for the downtown core that I'm really excited about."

She says jobs will also come with these businesses allowing more residents of High River to work closer to home.
