Fall is proving to be a busy time of year for Heaven Can Wait Animal Rescue.

They're currently seeing a great deal of orphan or stray cats come in that are in poor condition due to lack of proper nutrition over the summer and are feeling the effects more now that cooler weather is settling in.

Kim Hessel, Founder of Heaven Can Wait, says these cats require extra TLC before they can find their forever homes.

"Every little thing that we've taken in in the last two weeks has been in bad shape. It's either required veterinary care right away or it's been so emaciated that it's going to be a good month before we can get them vetted. We have to get that weight on them."

The rescue is hoping to see donations of KMR milk replacement for kittens and puppies, canned cat food, good quality dry food, blankets, and space heaters.

Hessel says the currently aren't seeing the same influx of dogs come through their doors.

"We just don't see the same issues with dogs that we do with cats this time of year. The dogs are always going to come but the cats come en masse. There's just so many that we can't adopt them quick enough and because they take time to get better before we can even adopt them out there's a delay before we can get them on their way."

The rescue does currently have a litter of nine puppies.
