The popular Canadian television show, Heartland, has millions of dedicated fans who live and breath everything "Heartland."

Museum of the Highwood Director, Irene Kerr, says she sees numerous visitors from every corner of the world come through the museum doors each year, looking for information on the show that's filmed right here in High River.

She says this fall, they're putting on an exhibit to display all the movies and shows filmed in the Foothills area, but because of the high demand, they decided to open up the Heartland portion of it a couple weeks ago.

"A lot of people come to High River to see Maggie's Dinner and they're all huge Heartland fans, so we thought we'd give them a little something extra to see while they're here," she says. "It's been a huge hit so far."

Kerr says they have a variety of the show's memorabilia items on display for people to look at.

"The people from Heartland have kindly loaned us some props from the show. We have a model of the little doll/ranch house that was in one of the episodes," Kerr says. "We have a saddle that was part of an episode, actually Season 5, Episode 1, as one visitor told me."

Kerr says people are such dedicated fans of the show that even though the road in front of the museum is under construction, she says people still find their way into the building.

She says it's hard to describe just how great the fans of Heartland are, and says the show has had huge economic impacts on not only the museum, but the town as well.
