Former Federal Conservative cabinet minister and MacLeod MP, Ted Menzies, has stepped down as the head of CropLife Canada because of health problems.

A release from the company says Menzies has some serious health issues, but didn't go into detail, other than to say his doctors have told him to slow down.

In response, Menzies has officially retired saying he's going to spend more time with family.

Menzies, who was the MP for MacLeod from 2004, until leaving politics in 2013, was the Minister of State for Finance from 2011 until he left office.
