Harvesting is getting underway around southern Alberta.

Glenn Groeneveld farms north and east of Blackie and says they're working on prep work.

"We'll be combining here in a couple of weeks and we're just starting to cut some canola and do a little spraying and get ready for harvest, the machinery seems to be ready and hopefully we'll get going soon," he says.

He grows canola, barley and wheat.

Groeneveld says it won't be nearly as good a year as last year but yields should be good.

"It's been an interesting year, a challenging year," Groeneveld says. "A little bit of dry, a little bit of wet but the crops look like they're going to be fairly decent for the weather we've had."
