Canada's 149th birthday is Friday and once again the Town of High River invites everyone to come out and celebrate.

Iva Woodward with the Town says there'll be lots to do at George Lane Park.

"It's going to be a great day," she says. "It goes from 12 to 4 p.m. and we have for opening ceremonies the NDC (Notre Dame Collegiate) band playing Oh Canada and the we have two more bands coming up, Larry Vanatta and Fraid Knot, and we have line dancers, hip hop dancers, some Irish dancing, I think it's the best Canada Day you're going to see."

The Lions club will have the concession stand open for food and there'll be not one, but four birthday cakes for a bit of dessert.

And of course the fireworks go from 8 p.m. to about 10:30 p.m. at Emerson Lake.

Woodward suggests getting there early because parking is at a premium.
