Most of High River felt nature's wrath Monday, July 2, as a violent hail storm pounded the town early in the afternoon.

Residents on the western edge of town got it the worst with several inches of pea-sized hail flooding streets and ruining gardens.

But just two blocks east of the worst hit spots, very little of the hail remained for long.

Several inches of hail inundated parts of High River's farth southwest corner Monday. These photos were taken about two hours after the storm hit, and only some of the hail had started to melt by then.

The Town sent out a handful of vacuum trucks to help deal with the overloaded storm sewers, but overall there was little damage from the storm.

It was enough to shut down the Highwood Golf and Country Club for the day, and prompted residents east of High River to keep an eye on the skies as a funnel cloud advisory was issued.

No tornadoes were spotted.

We can expect another day of cool, wet weather, before we get a big-time warm up with high's into the 30's just in time for the Calgary Stampede Parade on Friday, July 6.
