Horses galloping at full speed, controlled by a cowboy of course, while pulling people who are skiing or snowboarding behind through an obstacle course could be an interesting new sport.

The Calgary Polo Club is hosting a Skijordue (pronounced ski-jor), competition on Feb. 11.

Three years ago a small facebook post about a private Skijordue party turned into a major event.

"A lot of people turned up so we thought it might be a good idea to invite more people, " said organizer Graham Mitchell.

The sport originates in the old Nordic countries.

"It's actually any animal pulling a human around on skids," said Mitchell.

They planned to host the event last year but a lack of snow sidelined that plan.

Richard Cote, president of the Calgary Polo Club is very excited for the event, which they tried to host last year, but there wasn't enough snow.

"Combining skiing and horses it's amazing, so much fun," Cote said.
