It's been a great start weather wise in November but can the warm trends continue?

The answer is yes but the first week and a half of the month and a half will be the warmest.

Meteorologist with Environment Canada Kirk Thorneby says despite temperatures not reaching around 20 degrees Celsius there will still be some great times to get outdoors.

"Not nearly as warm but we're talking mid-teens but it's still quite unusual for this time of year when we're talking about normals in the three to five degree range and we're talking about temperatures that are fifteen, sixteen, seventeen or eighteen degrees so it's quite a bit above normal which is a bit of a reprieve from the dreary and cold October," he says.

Despite October experiencing massive dumps of snow in a short time, the average amount of usual precipitation was around the same as 2015 says Thorneby.

"We were a few degrees below normal through October, as for precipitation we did get a few dumps of snow here and there but no clear signal really in terms of it wasn't much wetter than normal per say across the province. But definitely there was some good snow events early in the season that were a little unexpected."

As for the rest of the month and into December, Thorneby says we could have a warm winter ahead.

"Looking ahead at the long range it's showing above normal temperatures right through November and into December so it may not be as extreme as we're seeing through the weekend but definitely above normal temperatures look like they are quite possible for the next month or so."
