The Provincial NDP may have found themselves in the middle of another misstep.

An internal memo, obtained by the Canadian Federation of Independent Business through the Freedom of Information Act show the Government's own analysts advising against raising the minimum wage to $15/hour by 2018.

CFIB Alberta Director Richard Truscott says the memo directly contradicts what the Premier has been saying, that this new policy would create jobs and stimulate the economy, when their own experts are telling them just the opposite.

"It really highlights the shoot first, ask questions later approach of this Government. We've seen it on Bill 6. We've seen it with the carbon tax. And now we're seeing it with the minimum wage. It does great disservice to Albertans'. It does great disservice to the small business owners in this Province who are going to bear the brunt of many of these policies if they haven't done their homework first."

Truscott says it's an "irresponsible way to develop public policy."

He says you need to do the research and analysis first, then decide what policy direction is best for the Province, which he says hasn't been done.
