Get outside and play, that is the message organizers of Earth Day are sending out this year.

They want kids everywhere to get their hands dirty building forts, climbing trees and inventing some games.

It's even better if there are no adults involved.

According to the Earth Day Web Site a professor at UBC says unstructured play time is a key ingredient for instilling a sense of environmental stewardship in children.

And in keeping with this initiative High River Library Director Mary Zazelenchuk says the library is hosting a contest for Earth Day.

"We are asking people to go to playgrounds in High River, rate them and send us pictures," Zazelenchuk said.

There is a prize package with a membership, books, and classes along with a few other treats.

For each picture you get an entry in the contest.

Email your pictures to program@highriverlibrary.ca or share them on social media with the hashtag #highriverlib.
