The Sheep River Health Trust's annual golf tournament ended on a high note with a generous donation.

The High River Health Care Foundation presented the Health Trust with a cheque for $40,000.

It will be used for the tub room renovations in Rising Sun Long Term Care at Oilfields General Hospital in Black Diamond.

Board Chair of the Health Trust, Andrew Gustafson says, the renos require a great deal of work.

"It's a tub room. People have a hard time kind of understanding what that is but, it's a really big project. The type of tub that's needed in there is not just a bathtub that you see in a home," he explains, "it requires access for people with mobility issues and lifts and it needs access all the way around for aids and what not, then the actual room itself, which is very dated, needs a massive amount of upgrades."

The reno will also help residents have more comfort and dignity in their bathing process.

Gustafson says, this donation means they can now complete the project.

"Between the proceeds from the golf tournament Thursday, July 13, and this $40,000 from High River, it gets us over the top so we're very excited about that. It's going to allow us to get construction underway on that project by the end of this year."
