Fire crews in High River were called out to deal with a gas line break on 4 Avenue between 2 and 3 Streets Southeast Monday evening.

Deputy Fire Chief Trevor Allen says the line was struck by a construction crew just before the supper hour.

He says ATCO has already begun work to get it repaired.

"ATCO just got the squeeze done on it now, looks like there's probably a half dozen homes that are going to have to have re-lights done by the ATCO staff," Allen says.

He says once the crew replaces the section of pipe that was broken gas will start flowing and crews will do the re-lights.
