A Vulcan furniture store is stepping up to help furnish some Airdrome condos that are going to house Fort McMurray evacuees.

Sixty condos have been set aside for people forced to flee their homes last week because of the massive wildfire there.

Deb Orr with Furniture Villa says they decided to help out.

"ve sent out requests to our suppliers asking for some help, either in donated product or discounts or whatever we can come up with and Simmons Canada actually was right there," she says. "Between them and us, so far, we have ten queen size beds, six to ten twin size, plus the frames and the bedding and everything we need."

Orr says they're willing to accept cash or gently used bedroom and kitchen furniture to help fill the condos.

"Logistically is people bring their stuff here then we can load it into our delivery trucks, take it up to the condos in Airdrie and then our guys will actually set it all up in the condos for them, so they're not going to just dump them and then Chris has to deal with the logistics of actually setting it all up."

She says they hope to take everything up by the end of next week.
