With National Volunteer week rolling out across Canada this week, the Foothills School Division is sending out a special thank you to all of their volunteers.

Superintendent of Schools John Bailey says during this week, and every day, they owe a lot of thanks to the people who help.

"In Foothills we absolutely appreciate all the hundreds of volunteers that we have in our schools," said Bailey. " We certainly couldn't do all the work that we do and make the schools the great place that they are for students without them."

He adds volunteers do countless hours and days of volunteering and that includes staff, parents and community members.

"Countless hours and days of volunteers. Everything from helping to organize materials for classrooms, to chaperoning extended field trips, concerts, sports teams, reading to students, everything you can think of. We absolutely appreciate all those volunteers."

Bailey says many programs are very dependant on volunteers.

"We certainly couldn't offer the breadth of programming and just the wonderful opportunities that are out there for students without willingness of volunteers to put their time and expertise in."
