Former Little Bow MLA Ian Donovan has quit the UCP Party.

Donovan, who represented the riding for the Wildrose and then as a PC before losing out on re-election in 2015, says what he calls the "dictatorship" like control of Party Leader Jason Kenney and questions around multiple nominations, is why he's leaving the Party.

Donovan was a member of the Cardston-Siksika UCP Constituency Association Board, and had been a supporter of the Party since it's inception.

Donovan says the "dissipation" of the party's grassroots input is one of the big factors in his choice to step down.

He also pointed to issues surrounding nominations heading into the spring election, particularly the one around Highwood MLA Wayne Anderson, who's filed a formal complaint with Elections Alberta.
