The Foothills Highland Games have been cancelled this year.

This comes just a few weeks after organizers announced a change of venue for the event from the fields at Foothills Composite High School to St. John Paul II Collegiate School.

In a release, the committee thanked sponsors, vendors, volunteers, visitors and the Highland community for their support, stating the games have been postponed until July 28, 2018.

The committee is constantly working to plan and fundraise for future events including a possible Ceilidh on July 29, the original date for this years games.

Those who are able to contribute financially or through volunteer work are asked to either contact committee members or become a part of the group to help plan next years event.

Last year marked the seventh year the Foothills Highland Games had been held in Okotoks and was the 17th year for the event itself.

Typically the games draw in over 3,000 spectators and 350 competitors to the region.
