The High River Food Bank could use some help stocking up their shelves with a few basics.

Lt. Kelly Fifield with the Salvation Army says there are a few holes they need to fill.

The recent Love High River Food Bank Drive helped to stock up the shelves, but they need some help with the basics.

"When you do your grocery shopping if you can pick something up and put it in the bin we defiantly appreciate it," said Fifield.

She added donations are always a little slower in the summer.

"We are noting our shelves are a little bit lower on some of those main items we are always looking for."

Things like rice, Kraft dinner, pancake mix, pasta in a can, soups and most importantly snacks and juice boxes for children.

Improvements to the local job market is helping, but the food bank, which is run by the Salvation Army is still seeing 100 plus families every month.

"People have been so far behind it is going to take them a long time to catch up and feel like they are back on their own two feet again."
