The wildfire burning in the MD of Ranchlands near Chimney Rock, and Chimney Rock Road South of Chain Lakes Provincial Park is still out of control Thursday, October 26.

However, emergency officials have re-opened Highway 22 to traffic.

Also Thursday morning, area residents, landowners and ranchers held a meeting with Provinical and the Ranchlands Administration building with officials to talk about how the fire is affecting them.

Crowsnest Pass RCMP say they're allowing people back into their homes, but landowners need a permit from the MD Office at Chain Lakes.

RCMP say so far there's no reported losses of structures, but conditions are still very dry with an extreme fire risk in the area.

In the meantime, one area rancher says the wildfire has burned about three thousand acres.

Rancher Clay Chattaway says, the South end of his ranch was just five miles from the blaze.

He says he thinks most people won't lose any of their cattle

"There were several ranches in their pregnancy testing and weining and so forth. They had their cattle in corals and gathered in some of that country. Personally I'm optimistic, except for one group of cattle."

Chattaway says, Wednesday night's cool weather along with some early evening snow helped a bit.
