The Province is providing support for continuing care services.

Health Minister Tyler Shandro says it's meant to help with staffing levels at these long tem care homes, hit hard by COVID-19.

"These residents are at the highest risk from COVID-19, and the operators of these facilities have been doing their best to protect them, but the operators have rightly raised concerns about the cost of complying with Public Health Orders that we've put in place," he says. "So today I'm announcing funding of more than $14 million per month, or $170 million per year to these operators."

The money is retro-active to March 15, 2020 and Shandro says it'll remain in place through all stages of the province's relaunch until the Public Health Orders are lifted and the threat from the virus is passed.
