Some residents in the Town of Turner Valley experienced a brief power outage on Wednesday August 8.

The power went out around 4:30 p.m., leaving 158 residents without power.

Manager of corporate communications for Fortis Energy Alberta, Alana Antonelli says the power outage occurred when contractors hit a utility line.

"There is some work being done in the area to bury third-party telecommunications fibre-optic cables, so we do know it was related to that work. Crews were called in shortly after for repairs, and we do apologize to our customers in the area for the inconvenience."

Shortly before 7:30 p.m., power was restored by Fortis workers,Telus technicians and Town staff.
