Early Monday morning, EMS responded to a fatal collision in the Foothills.

Just after seven, paramedics arrived on scene along Highway 22, north of Plummers Rd.

Adam Loria, Public Education Officer with EMS, says when paramedics arrived they discovered two vehicles and two people were involved.

"We were presented with two individuals that were injured, one fatally who was an adult female," he says. "After paramedics assessed her they determined her deceased on scene."

Loria says the other person was airlifted to hospital.

"An adult male was assessed, treated and stabilized by paramedics prior to being airlifted by stars air ambulance to the Foothills Medical Centre. He did sustain serious injury but luckily it's considered non-life threatening at this point."

There's no word yet on the cause of the crash.
