Okotoks RCMP said alcohol and speed were factors in a crash that resulted in a fatality early Saturday morning.

Cpl. Korey Crerar says two vehicles were involved.

"A black Mercedes Benz was traveling southbound and struck a yellow Toyota FJ Cruiser. The driver of the Toyota died on scene."

The RCMP Criminal Collision Incident Team and RCMP Collision Analyst investigators attended the scene and the investigation is ongoing.

Public Education Officer with Emergency Medical Services, Adam Loria says the collision took place on Highway 2A between 332 Ave. and 338 Ave. north of Okotoks.

Loria states the sole occupant of the SUV was unfortunately pronounced deceased on the scene.

"The occupant of SUV, determined deceased by EMS paramedics. No resuscitation was initiated based on injuries sustained."

The other occupant of the sedan, a 40 year old man, was taken to Foothills Medical Centre by ambulance.

He sustained numerous non life threatening, soft tissue injuries, he's in stable condition.

No charges have been laid, and the name of the victim has not been release
