Over 200 local farmers got together Sunday night at the Meadowbank Hall to try and come together on a plan before Wednesday's meeting in Okotoks to discuss the province's Farm Workers Protection Act, or Bill 6.

Organizer Wade Nelson says as a group they came up with a letter outlining their concerns over the proposed legislation which would grant farm workers the same rights as other workers in the province.

"We did create a letter we hope will then go up to Edmonton, and our MLA's can then stand up in the Legislature and say 'these people have voiced their concerns.' Even if that buys us 10 minutes in the Legislature that's a good thing. Because we're just trying to slow this process down. Show the government there's a lot of very concerned citizens and hope that they kick this back to committee."

Wednesday's meeting at the Best Western Hotel in Okotoks is already packed up, which means a lot of producers won't get a chance to be there to find out information or put in their two cents.

Nelson is trying to get the Province to move the meeting to a larger venue.
