As the fall season is upon us that means the hours at the Foothills Regional Landfill will be extended.

Manager Joe Angevine says the hours mean that more residents cleaning up their yards for fall clean up won't have to wait till the weekend to get rid of their waste.

"Our regular hours are 8:30 to 4:30 Monday through Saturday and then in the spring and the fall when we get busy we do extended hours and that is basically for small loads and that runs Monday through Thursday an extra two hours."

The extended hours keeps the line-ups short in what has become a busy landfill especially on Saturdays.

"The idea came about because a lot of people were complaining that they couldn't make it out after work and in particular it's the small residential loads so guys who have just a bunch of leaves or something that they've cleaned out of their back yard and then everyone was coming on Saturday and we were getting huge line-ups on Saturdays."

Angevine says the extended hours are just intended for those with a small load to take to the landfill and not substantial truck loads.

"The extended hours are just meant for the residential loads, small household garbage, landscaping loads and recycling loads so they're not meant for commercial trucks."
