This year marks the 40th anniversary for the Foothills Advocacy in Motion Society operating in the Foothills.

June 1st is the official date of the anniversary, and FAIM has continued to grow over the course of its 40 years of operation.

"(FAIM) was started in 1980 in High River, with just a handful of clients," said Jessica Koch, FAIM's Fundraising and Communication Coordinator. "Now we've grown into three branches: Okotoks, High River, and Strathmore, and we've got 130 clients."

To mark the milestone, Koch says she'll be coordinating a number of events over the course of the year, including the 10th edition of their Okotoks gala.

"So on May 30th, we're having a big fundraising gala. We've got Haggis coming out, and our theme is East Coast Kitchen Party. So it's a lot of fun, it's not super fancy, and it's a great night out."

Tickets for the gala are available on FAIM's website.

As far as FAIM's services go, Koch says they'll continue the work they've become known for throughout the community.

"What we do is we promote inclusion of individuals with developmental disabilities in the local community," she said.

"We have individuals with all kinds of amazing abilities that we support in the workplace."
