The economic slowdown has claimed a downtown High River business.

Shauna Nolan own's "A Little of This" on Third Street and opened shortly after the flood.

She says she was very proud to be one of the first businesses to move into downtown after the disaster.

"I just really felt good about or community after rebounding from such a huge disaster I guess. I just really wanted to be a part of change and growth and it was really exciting seeing new opportunities down here. You know, I just figured it was a great time to realize my dream and give it a go."

Nolan says road construction in the downtown over the past couple of years did play a role, but not for the reasons you might think.

"It has just because people's attitudes around it just haven't shifted in a positive way. I think it's beautiful down here and we're really blessed to have this downtown. It's gorgeous! Enjoy walking around and seeing what we have to offer down here and stop complaining about it because it's done. Move forward."

Nolan says it's just unfortunate for High River the economy hit a slump right after the flood, but she says when things pick up she could try to make a go of it again.
