Grant money from the Alberta government will make upgrades to a local ice rink and ag facilities possible.

The province is providing $6-million in Community Facility Enhancement Grants as well as $4.5-million in Community Initiative Program Grants available for close to 300 projects across Alberta.

Projects include facility upgrades and construction, playground development and support for the delivery of social, cultural and recreational programs and activities.

The Willow Creek Ag Society is receiving $80,000 for facility renovations in Claresholm.

And the arena in Vulcan is getting just under $10,000 for upgrades.

Non-profit groups can apply for matching grants to support facility enhancement and development projects through the Community Facility Enhancement Program.
