Saturday night's Eyes For Carson fundraiser was an amazing success.

Supervisor at the Highwood Restaurant, Alyssa Jones says they wanted to do everything they could to help Shawn Moreland and his family.

"His son, Carson, back in November got diagnosed with retinoblastoma in both eyes. We work with Shawn, so it was something that was just close to our hearts, near and dear. We just really wanted to do everything we could to kind of alleviate a little bit of their financial struggles through this time. With treatment being in Toronto neither of them are able to work, just flying back and forth and things like that."

Jones says the event was a huge team effort with so many people who volunteered and contributed, including a couple well-known performers.

"George Canyon and Lyndsay Butler were two of our performers. I think just having them be part of it helped everybody be interested in the event itself. We sold out tickets in just under forty-eight hours once we started advertising them. We're just all blown away. We were hoping to get about ten thousand, so we nearly doubled that which is just amazing to all of us."

The community raised just over nineteen-thousand dollars. There is a Go Fund Me page for the Moreland family  called "Care For Carson" which has raised almost fourteen thousand dollars. Click here to donate https://www.gofundme.com/2pbrgmjg.
