After twenty five years of service it's time for a big change at the Advocacy In Motion Society.

Executive Director Vince Kimura was honored at a retirement celebration on Thursday afternoon and he says the clients he has worked with will be what he remembers most.

"There just a really significant group of souls that I think sometimes society doesn't give tehm the opportunity to shine. I learned that if you just get to know them they're just like everybody else, they've taught me a lot of humility and I've really appreciated that, they ground me."

The Advocacy In Motion Society or AIMS is a not for profit organization that advocates for the inclusion of those with developmental disabilities.

Kimura says he plans to take some time for himself by not setting his alarm, reading and playing golf at the Highwood Golf & Country Club.

The new Executive Director Gerry McCullum says he's ready to take the reins thanks to Vince.

"I'm excited about the opportunity. I've worked with Vince for about fourteen years as one of his managers. I've learned a lot from him. We didn't always agree onm everything but we agreed on most things. The agency is in a greart spot."

AIMS represents individuals with developmental disabilities find employment and live successful happy lives.

McCullum says he plans on working closely with the Rotary and Chamber of Commerce in High River to further the cause of the organization.

Outgoing Executive Director Vince Kimura says he knows he'll still be involved as a resource on the board but he's ready to spend some time taking it a little slower.

"I'm just going to take a lot of time for me. I cancelled the alarm on my fitbit watch. There's a lot of reading I want to catch up on and then I'm going to golf. I activated my share at the Highwood and my simple goal is to golf a hundred rounds."

He says when he took the position back in 1992 he had fifteen clients and now there's one hundred.
