First you take a bike, add a path in the woods with some bumps and jumps in it, and that gives you the formula for a great day.

A new bike park, which takes that concept to a whole new level, might be in the future for the Town of High River.

Council heard a presentation from members of the High River Bike Park Society Jeff Hamilton and Chelsea McEwan at the meeting on Monday, February 26th.

There would be three parts to the park - a pump track built on asphalt, a dirt jump track and a skills area.

The group is looking for the Town to provide the land for the project so they can start fund-raising to get it up and running.

"We would love to see some land donated by the town," said Hamilton. "From that, it is strictly into fundraising and construction."

The park appeals to bikers off all ages.

"Learning how to ride bikes and enjoying time on bikes and every kid I know has a bike."

He says it isn't a BMX park or mountain bike park it is much more than that.

"It isn't a specific sport, not like BMX racing or downhill mountain biking, it's skills that transfer to all platforms of biking and it's fun and it gets kids outside."

Council instructed the group to work with administration to see if a plan for a park like this can be developed.
