Frank Lake, east of High River is a beacon for bird watchers and nature lovers.

This Saturday September 9, Ducks Unlimited will share what goes on there with the public during Duck Day.

Marshkeepers program coordinator Lee Ann Singleton says Frank Lake is one of Ducks Unlimited's more prestigious projects so they want to share it with the public to raise awareness of who they are and what they do and to give families a chance to see the project, have some fun and learn a few things along the way.

They'll do some "critter dipping' to see what bugs are in the water, what birds eat and do some bird watching and identification.

To date 190 plant species and 194 bird species and over 16 mammal species have been recorded there.

"We have some avid bird watchers that go out there and kind of report back to us," she says. "It's one of our more, busy (projects), when it comes to bird life and what's happening out there,"

The wetlands covers 3,100 acres of flooded area with an additional 1,700 acres of managed upland habitat.

She says the public's invited out for games, ATV tours and a whole lot of fun this Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m.
