The provincial government is taking steps towards improving emergency services in K Country.

The government has pledged $18.5 million to the new Kananaskis Emergency Centre that's under construction.

Fire, dispatch, and ambulance services will be housed in the facility.

The centre will hold better training opportunities with the Firefighter Residency Apprenticeship Program which is designed to recruit and retain municipal firefighters for the Kananaskis region.

Construction on the facility is said to be completed by fall 2019.

Kananaskis Emergency Services responds to more than 4,000 incidents annually, ranging from fires to rescues.
