The Alberta Elections Commissioner is looking into allegations someone may be trying to obstruct their investigation into campaign donations during the 2017 UCP Leadership race.

Highwood MLA Wayne Anderson says he's disturbed by the stories he's heard.

"Looks like they're focusing on the money that's changed hands and who actually donated to his campaign. But I think I actually saw a redacted letter regarding people who might be interfering with the investigation. And that's pretty serious stuff. So if there is anybody interfering with it, I'm assuming that they've been duly warned."

If the allegations are true and the Commissioner finds there was a deliberate attempt to commit what is called a "corrupt practice" there could face fines of up to $50,000 and receive two years in jail.
