Scratch "going to Frank Lake" off your "To Do" list for the next little while.

Ducks Unlimited which operates the road in and the duck blind at the water's edge, has decided to shut it down for now to help stop the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

The spot, just east of High River, is very popular among local bird watchers and dog walkers, but has proven to be too popular lately causing the group to lock the gates.

High River bird watcher, Greg Wagner, says the popularity of the blind makes social distancing very hard to do.

"If you ever are in there, you know there can be four or five people, but there's a constant parade of people in and out of the blind. There's a lot of traffic at the blind. It's extremely popular at this time of year. And it's a shame it can't be open right now but given the situation it's pretty understandable."

Wagner says Ducks Unlimited is also asking dog walkers and others who want to walk into the lake to not do it right now to keep themselves and others safe.

He says the gate leading to the duck blind will remain locked and signs will be going up in the next day or so letting people know about the closure.
