There's help for those dealing with friends or family suffering from addiction.

Assistant Superintendent of Foothills School Division Pam Rannelli says there's been a lot of interest in dealing with the issue.

"On Tuesday March 15 from 7 P.M. to 8 P.M. we are having a session for parents called 'Drugs, Trends & Teens.' It's sponsored by our council of school councils with Foothills School Division. It was a request from that group to hold a session for parents."

She says there is no charge for the session and adds Addiction Counselors Jason Neufeld and Judy Walbridge with Alberta Health Services will speak to parents.

She says the session should go for about an hour followed by a question and answer period.

Rannelli says the speakers will address ideas for parents on how to talk to their kids about drugs.

She says they'll be talking about more recent drugs and resources available to parents.

"They'll be covering things like vaping, fentanyl, marijuana use and then there will be question and answer period from parents on how to talk to teens about drug use and resources that might be out there for parents."

She recommends arriving early to guarantee a seat.
