Travis Sandor, with the Foothills Fetal Alcohol Society, has been hard at work collecting donations for B.C. fire victims over the past two weeks.

Sandor says the inspiration came from their experience with the 2013 flood.

Two weeks ago, Sandor posted on Facebook that he was collecting donations, and the amount of positive feedback  and support was overwhelming.

On Friday, August 4, friends, family, and volunteers gathered to load the donations into a semi bound for Kamloops.

Kim Sandors says, there were lots of businesses and different organizations involved.

"Travis phoned Mullen Trucking, and just let them know the situation. They decided to donate a truck, as well as a bunch of clothing and supplies for the fire victims in B.C."

Along with Mullen Trucking, Autocraft donated a truck, so Sandor can follow the donations to Kamloops and personally deliver the goods to fire victims.

A Facebook group called, "Calgary Helps," also donated their fair share of supplies to help the cause.

Sandor says, the residents of High River really stepped up to show their support for our neighbours in B.C.

"We're just paying it forward. We know how it feels to be displaced, so the main inspiration is just helping people."

The donations sent to Kamloops included clothing, water, toiletries, and pet food.

Family, friends, and volunteers gathered to load the donations August 4, 2017.
