High River residents have a new spot to toss their yard waste starting on Friday.

Operational Services Manager for the town Eugene Lund says with the warm weather we've had people have already started their spring cleaning.

"Tomorrow we're opening up our leaves and branches drop-off location. This is the new location that replaced the one that was just west of Co-Op last year."

He says it's located at the corner of 1 A Street NE and 1 Avenue NE.

Lund says signage directing to the drop-off station will pop up throughout town over the next couple weeks.

"We got everything set up quite a bit quicker than we thought we would with the warm weather. People are already starting to leave items for us to carry away. We thought because the weather is still looking good people are going to be wanting to get things cleaned up."

He says there's a limit to what you can drop off.

"Leaves, branches, grass clippings, roots and things like that can be dropped off there. Any other materials such as old benches, tables, lawn furniture or chemicals you might use around your yard or property cannot be dropped off there."
