The Okotoks Public Library is trimming a Christmas tree in a unique way, all for a good cause.

And they're asking library clients to pitch in and help decorate their tree, by donating new toiletry items.

Sarah Gillie, Okotoks Public Library Youth Services Manager, says that, for the second year in a row, all donations will support Rowan House Society.

Donations have already been coming in, and the tree is currently adorned with decorations of toiletries, including toothbrushes, toothpaste, dental floss and deodorant.

"It's quite the sight," Gillie says. "Last year, we received donations of socks and underwear for children, that was quite funny-looking. This year, we have quite a few toothbrushes decorating the tree right now. As we get more donations, we'll just keep adding them and I'm sure the tree will be very cute at the end of the donation drive."

Donations can be dropped off at the library's front desk or at the donation box by the Christmas tree during regular library hours, and Gillie says that as the donations come in, they will be added to the tree.

Donations will be accepted until December 21.
