You can add the annual "Vul-Con" Star Trek Convention in Vulcan this Summer to the ever growing list of Summer events being cancelled thanks to COVID-19.

Community Services Manager with the Town, Bonnie Ellis, says it's just another event added to the scrap heap of 2020 events.

"We're really sad to report that we're not going to be able to have "Vul-Con" this year due to the circumstances related to COVID-19. But, you know the bright side is there's always 2021 and we're going to have a great party and event for 2021."

Ellis, says they held out hope as long as they could, but needed to make the decision on pulling the pin on the annual event sooner rather than later.

"That's exactly why we waited so long, we were hoping things would change but unfortunately they didn't. So, it was a hard call to make but we finally decided we needed to do that. It's really unfortunate."

She says they're working out deals for a couple of this year's guests, Chris Doohan, from "Star Trek Continues" and the son of Canadian James Doohan, who played "Scotty" in the original Star Trek, along with Star Trek artist, Kavita Maharaj and "The German Mr. Spock," Jens Dombeck to come back next year, and are working on a couple of other big name guests as well.
