The Town of High River has made some changes to the bylaws surrounding their area structure plan for the Hampton Hills development.

The idea is to help the developer, Lansdowne Equity Ventures develop the remaining parcels of land.

Deputy Mayor Jamie Kinghorn says they're happy to work with the developer.

"Yeah, we're hearing some great things out of the Hampton Hills folks and they've adjusted their phases around a little bit. They want to build some high end stuff there, so I think we jumped to phase 10 or something like that. But, yeah, they want to put some high end homes in over there, so they're optimistic that the sales are going to start to take off here."

The gravel road that bypasses the Hampton's from 2nd Avenue to 20th Street N.E. isn't part of the re-worked area structure plan and will stay as is until the Town decides what to do with it.

However, for those who use the gravel bypass road from 2nd Avenue to 20th Street N.E., that goes around the back of the Hampton's, Kinghorn says that's not included in this plan.

"No. That is entirely separate. And we're working on some strategies on what we're going to do with that road. It's a budget item."

Kinghorn says there's a market for higher end homes with larger lots in High River and the changes to the area structure plan can make that happen.
