A lighter agenda faces High River council when it holds its regular meeting Monday afternoon.

Councillors will be asked to consider giving first reading to a bylaw that would amend the Land Use Bylaw map in the Highland's area of the planned Spitzee Crossing development.

It affects about 10 hectares of land, changing one portion from Urban Reserve to a mix of what's called Neighbourhood Centre District.and Traditional Neighbourhood District.

If it gets first reading a public hearing would be set up.

Council will also consider having the Mayor write to the Provincial Government on some land matters.

First, the town wants to take over properties purchased by the Province through the Southern Alberta Floodway Reallocation Program.

The majority of the land is on the east and west sides of Centre Street, north of the Highwood River to about the Lineham Canal.

Another parcel is at the west end of 12 Avenue near Baker Creek.

The second letter to Infrastructure and Transportation requests funding for the removal of the Beachwood estates infrastructure be included as part of removing the district.

Council will also be asked to reimburse Hank Leefrink $5,212 for refurbishing the Town-owned antique Fire Truck #47.

Tthe meeting starts at 3 p.m. in the Council Chambers.
