High River residents had stars in their eyes with some "A" list Hollywood stars in town for filming over the weekend.

Both Kevin Costner and Diane Lane were in town to film their new suspense thriller "Let Him Go."

The movie follows the emotional struggle of two grandparents who search for their only grandson after their son dies.

Costner who plays George Blackledge in the movie says "Let Him Go" will be an intense movie.

"It kind of scared me as I was reading it because there was something inevitable about it." Costner adds "You were watching two people, Diane Lane who's a world class actress leads me (her husband) down this trail and I know why she's making this journey emotionally but from a practical standpoint (I think a lot of men might relate to this) we understand that the trail she's going down is a bad one!"

Costner says this is his second time filming in High River, and he feel's as though he's almost been here in another life.

"This is my second time, and it's possible that I've been here in another life because I really like the area. I like the great plains and these rivers, these grasslands and these vistas." He adds "When I knew I was coming back, well I was happy to go back to Calgary but, High River specifically during the show, this is our second time back here so we feel like we know it. I look at that little train station and I look at some of the buildings that are historic and I'm always fond of that."

While High River is the backdrop for many different TV shows and movies, Costner says he really wanted to connect with the communities that serve him well.

"I came in here primarily because Calgary and this area have always treated me really well.  There's a mystique for movies that come in and sometimes they can be a little 'too cool for school' and I don't want that for me or for my film company."

"Let Him Go" is set to be released in 2020, and Costner hopes everyone in High River not only goes to see the movie, but enjoys it as well.
