It looks like Albertans are spending a little more money going out these days.

A new survey from credit tracker, Moneris, shows Albertans spent 0.31 per cent more in the second quarter of 2017, with increases in alcohol and restaurant sales.

However, we're spending less on other stuff like new clothes, going to the movies and household items.

Overall Canadians spent 3.88 per cent more in the past three months than they did last year.

Quebec led the way at a 5.8 per cent increase, with B.C. right behind at 5 per cent.

Both Saskatchewan at -1.7 per cent and Newfoundland at -0.3 per cent were down in year over year spending.

The top three things Canadians are spending their money on?

Fast food, couriers and hotels.

Tourism saw some big gains with an increase of 66.3 per cent in visitors from Mexico and 24.6 per cent from China.

American tourism into Canada only went up 7.2 per cent compared to the second quarter of 2016.
