Southern Albertans can send a message of condolence to the family of former Premier Jim Prentice, who died along with three others in a plane crash last week.

An official book of condolences has been set up at Calgary’s McDougall Centre.

It's open for members of the public to sign and leave a message.

There is also a condolence page on the Government of Alberta website.

The Transportation Safety Board has said the lack of a voice or data recorder on the plane will make the search for a cause more difficult.

As a result, the investigation into the crash could take up to a year to complete.

Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.
