Among the topics up for discussion at the regular meeting of Town Council Monday afternoon were land use bylaws.

Councillor Cathy Couey says there haven't been many residents becoming as engaged in the process as she'd like to see.

"As much as land use bylaws are not that exciting and thrilling, we really do want our citizens and our residents to get engaged, to attend the open houses, to look at the videos, read at the articles, and listen to the radio. As much as you might you're thinking this may not impact you, when it's all said and done there may be things in this that may impact you in your neighbourhood."

She says this is our chance over the next few months to be engaged, get informed and to share input.

She says that when December or January roll around and the land use bylaws are all passed it'll be too late for input.

Couey says the land use bylaw will open a world of possibilities in everyone's neighbourhood and she encourages more community involvement the process.

"A neighbourhood might be able to, when all of this is all done, you're neighbours home could open up a small business. You could have a little coffee shop on their veranda where you could come and have coffee. I think it's a fantastic thing that you could have things like that."

She says the focus is on the future of developments in High River.

"We're really looking to the future. When we're building things we don't want to think about what we're putting in that building today because that could be gone tomorrow. What's more important is the quality of the building, the look of the building and how it fits in our community."

She says the results of this process may have a greater impact on some residents and neighbourhoods than some might think.
