Some positive news came out of the public hearing Monday, April 3, into High River's new Land Use Bylaw.

Trevor Dickie, the Vice President for Calgary Land with Dream Development says construction is about to resume just west of the Co-op.

"We're breaking ground on a new commercial centre just west of the Co-op, I just got an e-mail, I think they're going to break ground on that next week," he says. "I was over there and they have it all staked. I knows there's some good interest, there's a restaurant, Mr. Mike's, but it'll help out and we're also about to undertake, on the residential side, a new building program."

He says they're looking at a resumption of residential construction with eight spec homes to start.

"I think everybody is starting to get their feet again here, we're excited about moving on and building some spec houses and offering that to the market," Dickie says.

He says they certainly have no shortage of land in the town and plan to be in High River awhile.
