It's been a busy holiday season for local furnace companies.

Joe McCormick, is the General Manager at GM Mechanical in High River.

He says snow build-up on roofs have led to some issues.

"The one major downfall with high efficiency furnaces and hot water tanks is the venting on them. Of course they're vented outside and a lot of time that can plug up with snow and ice and whatnot. So, the main thing for people to check if their furnace isn't working, is to just go outside, check that vent and make sure it's free of any ice and debris."

He says luckily they didn't see a lot of burst pipes with the cold snap.
