The High River Co-op store got in on the Stuff a Bus food bank drive on the weekend.

They didn't have a bus on hand but they were and are still gathering donations for the Salvation Army Food Bank.

Manager Angie Huck says they are always happy to help out.

"We are participating in the annual stuff a bus," said Huck. "Which we have one or two per year. Everything in High River will go to the Salvation Army."

She said that includes everything they get from all the food donations that are brought in, the food bags they sell and the food vouchers.

They also had a successful promotion in September where three cents per litre of gas sold on a specific day were donated to local food banks.

"Between Airdrie, Strathmore, Okotoks and High River we raised over $8,000."

With the Christmas season coming up fast the Co-op, along with other grocery stores in town will continue to collect donations for the High River Food Bank.

Along with food donations people can also buy gift certificates for the food bank to use to fill the holes they sometimes get in their shelves.
